Administration and Scheduling

The Altavista Community Transit System (ACTS) offers a deviated fixed route service to individuals of all ages. The service operates six days a week: Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.  The specific route and schedule of stops and times are contained in the Bus Schedule. A fare of fifty cents ($.50) per trip is charged and must be paid when boarding the bus. An exact change is required, however, tokens, monthly passes, and punch cards are also accepted and may be purchased at Town Hall.

Individuals may request the bus to deviate up to ¾ mile off its route to make pick-ups or drop-offs.  24-hour advanced notice is required for a deviated route and can be scheduled by calling (434) 369-5001.  Brochures detailing the route and schedule are available at Town Hall and at each bus stop.

ACTS, which began operating in January 2011, is sponsored by the Town of Altavista with assistance from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.
