Housing Choice Voucher Program

The County of Albemarle Office of Housing (ACOH) tenant-based vouchers are used to increase affordable housing choices for very low-income families by providing a monetary subsidy. Families with a tenant-based voucher choose and lease safe, decent, and affordable privately owned rental housing.

ACOH currently is funded for both the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program and the Mainstream Voucher program. Both programs are used to help subsidize low-income families in safe, decent, and affordable housing. Applicants must meet the 'very low-income' limits in order to qualify for either program. The Mainstream Voucher program also requires the family to meet the following criteria: Head of Household or Spouse must be a person with disabilities.
