Who We Are
People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry (PACEM) is a grassroots organization that offers congregate shelter during the cold months of the year, a "last resort" for individuals in our community who are homeless or sleeping on the street. PACEM's shelter generally opens the first week of November through the middle of April, hosting 25 single men and 10 women. Call 434-207-2328 during office hours for intake.
PACEM can also provide information about shelters in the community. More than 80 faith congregations and community groups in the Charlottesville area come together each winter to address the need for shelter by opening their doors, serving evening meals, offering case management, and/or providing companionship.
