The Harrisonburg Cardinals wheelchair basketball team competes in the Capital Conference of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. The team offers an opportunity for individuals in the area with spinal cord injuries or other permanent lower limb disabilities to have a competitive, recreational outlet. The team consists of individuals from the Harrisonburg, Rockingham and Augusta areas. This program is a joint effort between Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation and the Mid-Atlantic Wheelchair Athletic Association, both of which are tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations.
