The Center for Psychological Services and Development (CPSD) offers psychological testing and treatment (talk therapy). Staff at the Center takes information gathered from psychological assessment and prepares recommendations. Assessments include intellectual abilities, academic skills, memory, behavior, career and personality assessments. Assessments completed at the CPSD are often used to support student petitions for academic accommodations.
Counseling is offered for individuals, couples, children and families. Graduate students in the mental health field may assist with assessments. The graduate students are supervised by faculty members who hold licenses in mental health professions. Counseling treats issues such as anxiety, depression, life adjustment, relationship conflicts, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and parenting concerns.
Speciality clinics include The Anxiety Clinic and The ADHD Clinic. The Centeralso works with William & Mary's Lewis B Puller, Jr. Veterans Benefits Clinic and the Chesterfield Community Services Board.
