Who We Are
At Highlands Community Services, for many people in recovery who wish to move into independent living, Mental Health Skills Building provides one-on-one interventions in the home and community to enhance skills in budgeting, menu planning, comparison grocery shopping, organizing belongings, cleaning, and learning to use community resources. Often people who have just moved into new living arrangements become overwhelmed by stressors that include under-stimulation at home and over-stimulation in town. All of the above principles are helpful in making a successful transition. People in recovery often describe this program as “psychosocial rehabilitation without walls”. Services are provided in an individual’s home, in the community, and at the training center (The Oasis).
