Who We Are

The Embry Rucker Community Shelter (ERCS) is a 70-bed residential shelter located in Reston for families with children and adults without children. At ERCS, a healthy, safe, emergency housing is provided to help residents overcome barriers and transition to stable housing. A full-time licensed housing broker has been added to the staff and specializes in identifying both traditional and non-traditional housing opportunities for residents.

Medical assistance is offered to residents. For unsheltered homeless individuals, they offer drop-in services (hot meals, laundry, and shower facilities).  Unsheltered individuals are those who by choice, live outdoors, in cars, or in other places unsafe for human habitation or because there is no room in a shelter.  The shelter operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Comprehensive services include child care, medical assistance, nutritious meals, and financial counseling.

Intake Process
Contact the Emergency and Supportive Housing Division Director. For winter shelter, go to 1850 Cameron Glen Drive at 5 pm to sign up for a spot. Intake will begin; please bring an id if possible.
