Who We Are

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, through the Virginia Housing Development Authority, provides rental assistance to eligible, low-income families.  Landlords, whose units pass inspection, directly receive a designated amount of rent, thus reducing rental payment requirements for tenants and allowing tenants to increase their affordable housing choices.



STEP is a private, nonprofit Community Action Agency that operates about 20 programs designed to assist low-income persons in Franklin County and Patrick County, Virginia to help break the cycle of poverty.



The Housing Choice Voucher (HCF) Program is funded by HUD. STEP, Inc. in conjunction with VHDA (Virginia Housing Development Authority) provides rental assistance to income-eligible families.
