Who We Are

Center of Hope provides shelter every evening at 5:00 PM for an overnight emergency stay. The Center has a men’s floor, women and children’s floor, and family units designed to keep families together. Now offers 80 beds for the Greater Lynchburg during frigid temperatures in the winter and sweltering heat in the summer.

Sleeping cots are set up in the winter when temperatures drop below 40 degrees to those in need to ensure that no one is in danger of freezing.  When temperatures rise above 90 degrees, the shelter becomes a cooling station to prevent heat related illnesses among transient populations.

Counselors work with individuals to help resolve problems that brought them to the shelter. Men and women in overnight shelters receive free lodging for meeting goals they have set with the caseworker.

Also provides a 3- month program for men or women who are working or in need of therapeutic care, can get longer term housing so they can focus their time and energy on self-development, training, and employment.   7 Days a week 5 pm-7:45 am.

The Center of Hope serves citizens of Lynchburg, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell and Nelson counties.
