Who We Are
The Medical Outreach Services, a medication assistance program, grew out of the Council's concern about the lack of adequate and affordable primary and preventive medical care for many of its citizens who live below federal poverty levels and who do not qualify for government health programs.
The program receives medication and pharmaceutical supplies donated from pharmaceutical companies. The MOS program participates in The Pharmacy Connection, a Virginia Health Care Foundation program designed to help clinics cope with the high costs of medications for the uninsured indigent and working poor by providing access to a limited list of free medications for chronic illnesses. The cost for medications for acute illnesses is paid for under grants from the Virginia Association of Free Clinics and local and state grants.
