The mission of the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA is "to provide affordable housing to women regardless of race, creed, or color. We serve women in transition to prevent homelessness." There are furnished single rooms and efficiency units offered to women to rent.
In addition to residential services, social services are provided to residents including case management support, counseling and community referrals. Community organizations help supply clothing and other supplies.
