Army Wounded Warriors @ Rainbow
Who We Are
Rainbow Center offers the Army Wounded Warriors @ Rainbow program. This program is designed for recuperating service personnel from the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation program at Walter Reed. During a typical session participants may take part in riding, groundwork and horsemanship training. They also develop grooming and horse management skills. Sessions are individually designed to meet the specific needs of the participant. The focus may be on developing cognitive, memory and leadership functions in recovering personnel, which are used to assist people with PTSD. Other participants may take part in specially designed equine assisted exercises for amputees. In those cases, work is focused on developing their core strength, balance, and muscle coordination as they adjust to prosthetics. Family members are welcome to join participants in all activities.
