Who We Are

Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing at Vinson Hall Retirement Community was established in 2011 to help some of the many thousands of young, wounded veterans who have returned home from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq requiring a special kind of care and support in an environment that is well suited to their unique needs. Vinson Hall Retirement Community is a continuing care retirement community offering independent living, assisted living, nursing care and memory impaired assisted living. The community is supported by the Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation (NMCGRF).

Individuals enjoy life at their own pace and schedule, free to garden, take trips, pursue educational opportunities and enjoy music, art and entertainment.  Offers fitness programs, health services and pastoral support.

A number of disability accessible apartments are being renovated to serve as transitional housing for wounded veterans who have been discharged from inpatient treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and continue on active duty while going through a very thorough evaluation period.
