Who We Are

The Hampton-Newport News Emergency Services Department offers crisis intervention services 24 hours per day for seven days per week. The program provides crisis intervention and recovery based services for individuals who are experiencing symptoms of mental illness or substance abuse problems. Services will be provided in an environment that meets the needs of each person.

Emergency Services is a team of counselors that perform mental status assessments and crisis intervention services which may include counseling, making referrals to appropriate resources or coordinating admissions to treatment services.  The goal of the mental status assessment is to determine if mental health services are needed and to exhaust all least restrictive interventions available prior to making recommendations for inpatient treatment.
