Who We Are

Rappahannock Area Community Services Board's (RACSB) Emergency Services offers crisis intervention, brief crisis counseling and referrals for community resources. Therapists also provide triage for psychiatric hospitalizations. Clinicians offer pre-screening to determine eligibility for involuntary admission and assist with voluntary admissions to psychiatric facilities.

 

Emergency Services therapists partner with local law enforcement to staff a Crisis Assessment Center in the Emergency Department at Mary Washington Hospital. This provides a space for law enforcement and Emergency Services Therapists to assess and monitor individuals under emergency custody orders. It could take up to eight hours to find a bed in a psychiatric facility. Additionally, Emergency Services Therapists help connect individuals with outpatient services and the Crisis Stabilization program.
