Who We Are

NORD, the National Organization for Rare Disorders, operates a "Medication Assistance Program" which provides several free prescription drugs to needy uninsured patients who can't afford to purchase them.

Each case is reviewed individually, and for complicated cases, a Review Committee makes the decision and the amount. Most patients who apply are uninsured, have insurance without prescription drug coverage or are waiting for pre-existing condition clauses to expire.

Visit Nord's Patient Assistance Programs  for more information.

The Early Access Program allows a limited number of individuals to receive investigational drugs prior to FDA marketing approval.

For information on charitable, long-distance, medical air transportation, visit the National Patient Travel Center's Web site or call their Helpline at 1-800-296-1217. NORD also helps find free or low-cost travel options to distant medical facilities for people participating in clinical trials who cannot afford the expense.
