Who We Are

Thomas Jefferson Emergency Medical Services offers training, emergency medical training for EMT, paramedics, planning, development and testing. Fully accessible to handicapped persons.



Working relationship with the University of Virginia Medical Center (Level 1 Trauma Center) and Martha Jefferson Hospital. The UVa Pre-hospital Program provides for initial ALS certification programs, ALS continuing education, and constant "run review" for all agencies within the region.



Task forces are the resources sent to localities to help them meet their EMS needs during disasters. A task force includes BLS ambulance, ALS ambulance, crash/rescue truck and 10-12 EMS providers led by a trained Task Force Commander.



The Thomas Jefferson EMS Council is an integral part of the EMS system whose function is to assess, identify, coordinate, plan and implement an efficient and effective regional EMS delivery system in partnership with the Virginia Office of EMS and the Virginia EMS Advisory Board.
